Glider Release Page 2

Intro Previous Next

Close-up of release platform. Notice there are no servos, no modifications to the plane. This platform attaches with rubber bands (I usuall put 3 on each side). The eye-hook is centered directly over the CG of the plane, and screwed into a hardwood 1/2" by 1/4" cross-piece. This eye-hook is the connection point for the glider.

The pegs in the back of the platform are used to keep the glider fuse in-line with the plane fuse, and have recently been modified to accept a wider glider (which is why they are unpainted). Foam tape covers any surface where that the glider contacts the release platform.

The side plates of the platform are made of 1/8" plywood.
